What You Need to Know About Your Nissan Key Fob
You've either lost your Nissan keyfob, or it has stopped functioning. Before you panic or call the dealer, go back to where you last had it.
Fortunately, it's easy to change the battery in your nissan key fob. You'll soon be able to get the hang of it.
Smart Keys Keys
The key fob that was included with the Nissan is an essential part of its incredibly advanced keyless entry system. It connects to the vehicle's electronics to unlock doors as well as start the engine. It also comes with an elegant design that makes it easy to keep in your pocket. Key fobs also come with convenience features like the lockout protection feature, which ensures that you won't accidentally leave your vehicle with keys inside.
Smart keys function wirelessly unlike older models that required you to insert the key into an ignition slot in order to access your vehicle's internal systems. When you approach the vehicle the Nissan detects the Intelligent Key fob's proximity to it and activates its internal functions. This could include opening and locking the doors, raising or lowering the tailgate, and even starting up the engine.
Some smart key models include an unnoticed metal key to be used for valet parking. The key can be pulled out from a release on the side of the Smart Key fob to secure the trunk or glove box before handing it to a valet. The Smart Key fob has a charging pocket which can be used to charge the battery when it is not in use.
You may need to replace the batteries in your Nissan Intelligent Key fob if it's not working properly. Most fobs use CR2025 or CR2032 batteries, and instructions on how to replace the batteries can be found in the owner's manual.
Intelligent Key Fob
With a Nissan Intelligent Key Fob you can unlock the doors of your car and start its engine with the push of an button. It also allows you to activate presets to suit your preferences. For example you can adjust the seat and mirrors for maximum comfort. You can even control the music from your smartphone, ensuring that you never have to leave your vehicle.
Intelligent Key Fobs come with an antenna built-in which sends a signal to your car when you press a button or approach it. Once your vehicle is aware of this signal, it will activate the system, unlocking doors or locking them, starting the engine, and opening the trunk. If you want to test out the fob, stand a distance away from your vehicle, and then press the buttons. If the lights flash, or the horn sounds sound, you have successfully programmed the Intelligent Key Fob.
Like all remotes, Intelligent Key fobs require batteries to function. Our Parts Department will help you quickly and easily replace it if yours runs out. To do this, first remove the key that is hidden from your key fob. Then, open its battery compartment. Replace the battery with a brand new one after removing the previous one. Make sure that the positive face of your new battery faces in the same direction it did with the old one. Remote Start
Nissan remote start allows drivers to heat or cool their vehicles from outside, so long as they're within the operating range. Flip your fob inwards, and press the latch on the backside of the keypad. Once the key pad has opened remove the battery and replace it with a brand new one, ensuring it matches the size and configuration of the existing battery. Before closing the outer case, ensure that the hidden key is inserted again and the key fob is reassembled correctly. Lockout Protection
Lockout protection prevents lockouts that result from impedance failure. A special module in the power control unit monitors the impedance relay's activity and then turns off the output. This feature is only available on vehicles that have the Smart Key system or through the vehicle personalization menu.
Many serious accidents have happened due to a machine being started when it should have been shut down to prevent maintenance or repair. These accidents are usually caused by stored energy that isn't properly released. Lock-out tag-out (LOTO) systems help to prevent these accidents by making sure that machines remain completely off until a person authorized releases them.
The LOTO system consists of a variety of locks tags, locks, and other equipment that are used to secure, isolate or block the machine from electrical sources. All "affected", "authorized", and "qualified" personnel should be instructed on the use of lockout and tagout devices. These devices include but not restricted to chains, locks padslocks, wedges adapter pins and self-locking fasteners. Each device is identified and labeled with the date and the time of application as well as the name of the authorized person, and the reason for the lockout/tag-out (repair maintenance, repair, etc.). It should be stated clearly that these devices can't be removed until a complete LOTO procedure has been completed.
